Montegrappa Bugatti Pur Sang Indigo Blue Fountain Pen
“Bugatti” – for many automobile enthusiasts, it is the most evocative name in the history of the motorcar. With decades of greatness on both road and track, it is a legend that spans generations, always aspirational, adventurous and innovative.
Montegrappa's Bugatti range of writing instruments is redolent of this stellar marque’s essence. Inspired by the horses he loved, Ettore Bugatti invested his cars with visual clues to his equine passions. Most notably, his radiators – and the grille on the Veyron – were shaped like both a stirrup and a horse-shoe. He also employed the term “pur sang”, French for “thoroughbred”, to describe his vehicles, imbued as they were with no-compromise engineering in the quest for the ultimate in handling and performance. It remains true to this day.

In creating Bugatti Pur Sang Duotone writing instruments, the designers studied the details and surfaces of the Veyron, inside and out. The cars themselves are often supplied in two-tone schemes, reflected in the series’ name. Duotone writing instruments’ caps and barrels join metal components with superior quality Italian resin, offered in five combinations: Indigo Blue/Rhodium, Bugatti Blue/Rhodium, Matte Black/Ruthenium, Argus Pheasant Brown/Rose Gold, Pearl/Rose Gold. Starting on the cap and running through the complete writing instrument, the metal surfaces are engraved with a pattern of “Dynamic Quilting”, recalling the upholstery within a Veyron.
The oval logo also appears in full colour on the top of the cap of every writing instrument, while the shape of the Veyron’s headlights inspired the engraving around the cap ring.
The fountain pen has an 18 karat gold nib.

Bugatti writing instruments are produced in limited editions of only 999 units each colour and are packaged in especially designed oval boxes to recall the Bugatti logo.

Italy's first pen manufacturer, Montegrappa, began manufacturing pens in 1912 in its factory in Bassano del Grappa - a picturesque town along the Brenta River, which flows through Alpine foothills in northeastern Italy. Utilizing natural celluloid and precious metals, Montegrappa combines traditional methods such as die-casting with more recent innovations as low-relief engraving to form their precious art objects. Whether they use colors reminiscent of the master painters or ornamentation suggestive of Baroque palaces, the Italian heritage and romance is infused into each product.
