George Gershwin was the composer who bridged the worlds of classical music and jazz. Today, he is considered as the man who brought “jazz into the concert hall.” Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1898, George Gershwin was an American composer and pianist. Among his best-known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue, An American in Paris and Porgy and Bess, now considered ones of the most important American operas of the twentieth century. On the 120th year anniversary of his birth, Montblanc pays tribute to this exceptional composer.
The design is based on the shape of the very first donation pen (Leonard Bernstein). The clip is inspired by his iconic clarinet opening of “Rhapsody in Blue” on February 12, 1924. The clarinet has been instrumental for the success of this composition masterpiece. The cap ring is inspired by the birth of G. Gershwin in Brooklyn and the close relationship between him and his place of birth with the engraving of the Brooklyn Bridge and his signature.
In the wonderful gift box of this pen, you will also find a booklet and artwork on New York City.
