A limited edition bottle of Rouge Hematite (scarlet) ink by J. Herbin, released in 2010 in celebration of Herbin's 340th anniversary. Rouge translates to red, and Hematite is an iron ore that when pulverized into a powder, can be used as red pigment. With a dark red color and earthy tone, it is a reminder of the historic color of the Herbin logo and the sealing wax used by the members of the imperial and royal courts.
Please note: this ink will offer a variety of colors depending on the nib of the pen. The colour range is from earthy red to an orange-red depending on the nib and ink flow. Usually, the richest color is achieved with wet and flexible nibs. We recommend shaking the ink bottle before filling your pen.

The ink comes in an inkbottle of 50 ml. This ink is pH-neutral, light fast and water based and can be used safely in fountain pens.

The ink of J. Herbin is special. The company was founded in 1670 and it is therefore one of the oldest manufacturers of inks and waxes in the world.
